money. First off, ordering from Amazon was excellent. Their price was lower than everyone else and their delivery service was fantastic. I scheduled the date and time when I was placing my order, received confirmation from the shipping company about a day later and finally the delivery guy called me approximately 30 minutes before he arrived (and they arrived exactly within the time frame projected). Once he arrived he carried the TV up to my apartment (I live on the 3rd floor with no elevator), brought it in and unpacked it for me to check for damage. Once I signed off everything was good to go. Second, the setup of this TV was a breeze. I’m in between sound systems so there was nothing to hook up in that category but I have an HD DVR, Xbox 360, and Laptop all hooked up via HDMI. Once everything was plugged in and I turned the TV on it walked me through setting everything up for each individual setting. I’m a videophile so configuring the video settings took a good hour or 2 to fine tune each setting but it was well worth it in the end and I am extremely happy that this set was capable of adjusting the finer points of picture quality (also I wasn’t using it at first, but the built in Noise Reduction feature is excellent for HD channels that don’t have the best signal, like USA down where I live). So far I have zero complaints about actually watching this TV. In very bright light (like if I leave my blinds all the way open) the screen can be very hard to see but that is to be expected with a plasma TV so it’s not really a negative, just something to be mindful of (besides who likes watching TV when it’s bright and sunny outside). I did have to worry a little about light placement in the room because of glare, but the screen is super glossy so it was not that difficult to overcome (just moved my lamp to the side of the TV). I do not have this TV in any kind of cabinet so I have not had any problems with rattling or anything with the sound. For an average sized room (250 sq. feet) this TV is plenty loud and it sounds great, nothing distorted or anything at higher volumes.

Getting the unit connected to the internet was not a problem. I received a rebate for a free wireless adapter (another thanks to Amazon)

which I’m still waiting for and from what I’ve read it is a simple plug and play with that. For now though, I’m connected via ethernet cable directly to my router behind my Panasonic TC-P42S30TV. I’m a computer person so getting this setup was simple but I did have to manually configure the connection information (IP address, gateway, DNS, etc). If you know what you’re doing or know your way around google this is a very easy thing to figure out just by using your nearby computer. The one complaint I have about this TV (and its a rather big complaint at that) and this may be due to a bunch of different factors and I have not had time to 100% test everything (I will post updates as I do) but I like to watch a lot of digital videos, specifically HD videos and many of those are .mkv files. According to the included manual this model can read a .mkv file that’s connected via a USB device (flash drive or hard drive) if the video and audio codec’s are correct. Now I have tried just about every arrangement of video and audio codec for .mkv files that the manual says works, and even some that don’t work and for some reason the best I can get is the sound plays fine but the video lags horribly bad. The only way I have found around this is to connect the media through my laptop and then connect the laptop to the TV. I don’t want to do this because a little USB flash drive is easier to deal with than a TV. Also by using a USB drive I can control the videos via the TV remote. I am currently in the process of converting some videos to various different file formats (.mp4, .avi, and a couple others) and will update as I test those out. For the time being however, I’m not sure if it is this particular unit or it is a bug in the TV firmware, am still researching.

All-in-all though I am very happy with this model and my choice. I just wish I could get the USB drives to play correctly because that feature in this TV was one of the huge reasons why I chose this one. If that is not a big thing for you though, DEFINITELY recommend this particular TV. I will also update this review as I figure out exactly what is going on with the USB drives. Also if anyone has any suggestions on what to do with the .mkv files and the USB drive any ideas/help would be greatly appreciated .
